Medicare’s Annual Election Period begins October 15th and continues through December 7th. During this time you may consider making changes to your Medicare Part D Prescription Drug plan, Medicare Advantage Plan, or Medicare Supplement plan.

Here’s a few LifeStore Medicare Tips: During the annual election period you can make as many changes as you need to your Medicare Coverage. The final change that you make will go into effect on January 1st. If you do nothing, your current, plan, if available in 2022, will renew automatically.

  1. If you have Original Medicare, review the 2022 “Medicare and You” handbook. This will outline your benefits for the upcoming year.

  2. If you have Medicare Advantage or a stand-alone Part D drug plan, you should receive an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) and an Evidence of Coverage (EOC) from your plan. These documents outline which providers, pharmacies, drugs, and services your plan covers, and what costs you will be responsible for. They’ll also tell you what will change in 2022. If you aren’t satisfied this is a good time to make changes.

  3. Medicare supplement, also known as Medi-gap plans, have rates changes annually. You must shop rates just as you do with other types of insurance like auto or home. You may be able to get the same or similar coverage for a lot less. Please remember Underwriting may be needed to change policies after your (IEP) Initial Enrollment Period.
